Ma Long en patron chez lui !
Durant plus d'une semaine, tous le Tennis de Table mondiale s'est donné rendez-vous en Chine, la Mecque du Ping !
Comment imaginer qu'un joueur autre que Chinois puisse s'emparer d'un titre mondial sur le sol même de l'Empire du Milieu ? IMPOSSIBLE ! Cette année encore, ces Chinois ont largement dominés de la tête et des épaules ce rendez-vous !
Chez les messieurs, c'est le numéro 1 mondial Ma Long qui s'impose en final contre Fang Bo (N°14), devant les demis-finalistes Zhang Jike (double champion du monde en titre) et Fan Zhendong !
Chez les Dames, les deux meilleures joueuses du monde avaient rendez-vous en finale ! Un combat qui restera à coup sûr dans les annales du ping, de part son intensité et son scénario incroyable (blessure de Ding Ning après que son adversaire soit remonté à 3 manches partout).
Mais même diminuée physiquement, la numéro 1 mondiale Ding Ning s'est accrochée pour remporter son second titre mondial de sa carrière en simple après celui de Rotterdam en 2011.
Et nos petits français dans tout ça ?
Pas forcement évident pour les tricolores de se frayer un chemin face à une telle concurrence ! Lors de leur premier tour en 1/64ème de finale, Abdel-Kader Salifou (N°112) s'incline lourdement, mais logiquement, face au Coréen Jung Youngsik (N°24). Au même stade de la compétition, élimination un peu plus surprenante d'Adrien Mattenet (N°40) face au jeune portugais Joao Geraldo (N°133).
Les deux autres membres de l'Equipe de France masculine ont quant à eux échoué au stade des 1/32 ème de finale ! Match de gala pour Emmanuel Lebesson qui s'est avéré être sur le chemin du numéro 1 mondial et futur vainqueur de la compétition Ma Long. Après une belle bataille, le français s'est logiquement incliné 4 sets à 1. De son côté, Simon Gauzy (N°1 français et N°35 mondial) s'est fait surprendre par le très bon Kamal Achantan (N°44 mondial). L'indien fut pourtant victime d'une blessure durant la rencontre, mais le jeune tricolore n'a pu réussir à en profiter.
Dans les tableaux double, belle perf du duo Gauzy-Lebesson qui élimine les champions du monde en titre ! "Battre les champions du monde, aux championnats du monde, en Chine, c'est juste incroyable, mais le plus dur reste à faire : confirmer cette performance dès demain" explique S.Gauzy.
Malheureusement, dans un match qui aurait pu basculer d'un côté comme de l'autre, la paire française est éliminée après la manche décisive face à deux brésiliens. Rageant !
